The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on May 25th, 2018, and supersedes the Wet Bescherming Persoonsgegevens’. The GDPR gives citizens, consumers and employees greater control over their personal information through stringent new rules governing how organizations treat personal data. It also puts more emphasis on the responsibility of organizations to demonstrate compliance with the law. Authority to supervise this compliance and, if necessary, impose fines has been conferred upon the Data Protection Authority. In order to comply with the GDPR and thus protect personal data, Bol International has taken both technical and organizational measures.
